Matt has been a firefighter for twenty-nine years and has reached the rank of Captain for the largest fire district in the State of Oregon. Matt is also a Paramedic.
Matt has served as a reserve deputy and Tactical Medic on SWAT for over a decade. Matt holds state instructor certifications with both the fire service and the police service and has taught at both academies. As a SWAT team member, Matt is certified fully as an entry team man and breacher and must complete all the training of a full-time LEO. Since 2013 Matt has served as a DT Instructor for the State’s Police Academy and still serves in that capacity currently. Matt is credited for updating the State Police Academy’s ground control curriculum, and he’s consulted with numerous fire departments and county agencies on developing SOPs and training programs for managing hostile scenes.
In addition to Matt’s professional experience, he is a 3rd degree BJJ Black Belt. Matt has been a BJJ Coach since 2003 and was a co-owner of Impact JJ Newberg for a decade. (2003-2013)
Matt has extensive experience training with C4C over the years. Matt 1st served as an Assistant Instructor in C4C PJJ in 2015 and has continued to train and instruct officers.
