Kyle McCutchen is a deputy with the King County Sheriff’s Office in Washington State and is currently the head defensive tactics instructor for the department. Kyle joined the sheriff’s office in 2002 and held various patrol and detective positions before becoming a full-time trainer in 2015. Kyle started training law enforcement officers in 2005 when he was certified as a control tactics instructor with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. Kyle holds certifications as a Master Control and Defensive Tactics Instructor (WSCJTC), Handgun Instructor (WSCJTC), Patrol Rifle Instructor (WSCJTC), and Master Taser Instructor (Axon), among other qualifications.

Kyle is a lifelong martial artist who has competed in amateur mixed martial arts, Boxing, combat Jiu-Jitsu, and karate. He began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1999 and achieved the rank of black belt in February of 2015. In 2011 at the rank of purple belt, Kyle discovered his love for coaching and began leading adult classes in Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, and Boxing. Since then, he has spent a significant amount of time teaching adult and youth students, preparing them for combat sports competitions and self-defense scenarios. Since 216, Kyle has been the owner and head instructor of Kindred Jiu-Jitsu in Edmonds, WA.

Kyle has completed C4C PJJ Instructor Course and was a leading student in the course. His extensive LEO, MMA, BJJ, and instructor experience makes Kyle a high-level PJJ Instructor with an extensive skill set.
